The Spire Collection

Four Mountains. Four Wines. Established in 1995, Lokoya is a collection of four distinct Cabernet Sauvignons from four of Napa Valley’s most celebrated mountain appellations. These single- vineyard wines are 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, fermented with native yeast, and bottled unfined and unfilteredâ €”resulting in the purest expression of place. They are powerful wines that reflect the intense individuality of each mountain. WINEMAKING Winemaker Chris Carpenter believes that the art of great winemaking is knowing when to intervene in the vineyard and the cellar, and when to leave the fruit alone so that it can express itself as naturally and eloquently as possible. Harnessing the concentrated fruit flavors that result from high elevation sites with meager soils, while also taming the intense tannins from these small, thick-skinned grapes, requires skil TECHNIQUES 1. Precision viticulture and canopy management: canopies are hand-leafed to modify sun exposure in each row for optimal flavor and tannin development 2. Minimal movement of fruit from vineyard to cellar to avoid crushed berries 3. Extensive hand-sorting 4. Wooden basket pressing for tannin management; level of pressing can be monitored and incremental press cuts can be made 5. Specially designed, semi-open top fermenters allow higher Brix levels without increased alcohol 6. Exclusive use of French oak barrels

Robert Parker, Jr., The Wine Advocate, October 2016 “The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Spring Mountain has a dense bluish/purple color to the rim. It comes across as slightly more elegant, with floral notes dominating the wine’s aromatics. Violets and rose petals followed by blueberry and blackberry fruit as well as some crushed rock in a medium to full-bodied, beautifully pure, suave style characterize this wine, which was made form Spring Mountain vineyards such as Yverdon and Wurtele. Drink it over the next 25 years.” “There are several theories as to why Savannah, Georgia was spared at the end of Sherman’s March. One was that it was too beautiful to destroy. With its antebellum architecture, cobblestone streets and heady springtime aromas, it is a city of great beauty and underlying strength—one that reminds us of the 2014 Lokoya Spring Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon, with its floral aromatics, ripe boysenberry fruit character and fine minerality. Like seeing a beautiful Southern belle for the first time, this wine will resonate in your memory for years to come.” — Christopher Carpenter, Winemaker

Lisa Perrotti-Brown, Robert Parker Wine Advocate, December 2017 “Very deep garnet-purple colored, the 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Howell Mountain gives up wonderfully expressive crème de cassis, licorice, tar and underbrush notes with hints of charcuterie and bay leaves. Big, rich, full and opulent in the mouth, it has firm, velvety tannins and seamless freshness, finishing very long with spice nuances coming through.” “The blues’ raw interpretation of the pentatonic scale, with its guitar-driven laments, conveys a sense of depth and texture like no other form of music. The deep, brooding dark fruit, textural components, anise and forest floor tones of Lokoya’s 2015 Howell Mountain, like the blues, will take you to the crossroads with each sip.” — Christopher Carpenter, Winemaker

“‘Rock and roll is here to stay, it will never die…’ these are lyrics that convey the attitude and power of their genre. The 2015 Lokoya Mount Veeder could be said to be the rock and roll of the Lokoya lineup. The result of Veeder’s energy, power and longevity, combined with the breadth of blue and dark fruit, Asian spice and notes of cedar, this is a wine that will keep you rockin’ from now until 2050.” — Christopher Carpenter, Winemaker

“From the micro-terroir of the W. S. Keyes Vineyard on Howell Mountain, the 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Howell Mountain is pushing perfection. Its incredibly opaque color is followed by notes of lead pencil shavings, mulberry, blackberry and dark raspberry fruit, some background oak and minerality, and profound richness in a full-bodied, multi-dimensional style. It is gorgeously ripe, and sexy already, with a lush and voluptuous texture. Drink it over the next 25+ years.” R.Parker
